What a great day to ride, 75 and lightly breezy. Today we headed out from the little town of Lunenburg Vt., drove through the even smaller town of East Concord on Oregon Road. Entering Gilman Vt., we crossed the bridge into Dalton New Hampshire. Once we were on Rt.135 we continued Rt. 142 to Whitefield and on to Bethlehem. There we picked up Rt. 116 to Franconia then Rt. 117 through Sugar Hill to Lisbon Rt. 302/10. The combination of time of year and rural county side brought about a few bugs but lovely scents of lilacs and fresh cut fields. From Lisbon we rode to Woodsville south on Rt. 10 to North Haverhill to Kt. 116 to connect to the Kancamagus Highway. We followed the Kancamagus east through Kinsman Notch into North Woodstock. If you haven’t ridden on the Kanc you have to take a trip. It winds along Lost River with many natural attractions and pull offs. Heading home we picked up Rt. 3 North and ventured through the Franconia notch into Twin Mountain and to Rout 3 to Lancaster, NH. From Rt. 3 we connected to Rt. 2 where we crossed back into Vermont to enter the other end of Lunenburg to head home. The entire trip was only 6 hours with stops for exploring and beverages and a total of 130 miles. What a great day to ride!
